Detective Inspector Daniel Coholan from Anglesea Street Garda Station spoke to Neil Prendeville this morning following the raid of a house on Cork’s Northside containing high potency “Russian Poteen”. The poteen was being bottled in 500ml bottles labelled ‘Irish Spring Water’ and was being sold to vulnerable people in the city including homeless individuals. Those selling the poteen would withhold the social welfare cards of these individuals until they received payment for the alcoholic drink. A 36 year old non-national man has been arrested.
